Food Cupboard

Kirk of Our Savior has a food cupboard that sits just outside the sanctuary and in plain view of the office and lounge.  Donations to this food cupboard are made regularly by generous members at Kirk of Our Savior and it is never empty.  Any and all food in this cupboard is available (completely free of charge) to anyone who needs it.  You are welcome to take as much as you can carry!  Details here: Food Cupboard

Kirk of Our Savior also contributes to many other local organizations.  For example, we donate to Presbyterian Villages for their musical program.

Kirk of Our Savior has a partnership with Wayne-Westland schools including Stevenson Middle School, where the Kirk has sponsored a school-wide rewards program for students, support and morale boosters for staff/teachers, and launched the thriving E-Sports programAdditionally, the Kirk supports John Glenn High School and the Family Resource Center.  The Kirk supplies items for the JGHS food bank and helped re-launch the Rocket Champions Program.  JGHS students participate in a college scholarship program through the Kirk.

Additionally, we have participated in such programs as SHH! (Santa Helps High schoolers), where members donate wished-for items (such as fuzzy socks, phone chargers, chapstick, and candy) to students-in-need during the Christmas season, in an effort to share a little joy.  The Kirk helped to fund the Blessings in a Backpack program, a local branch of a national resource offering meals to students-in-need who would otherwise go hungry on non-school days.  The Kirk created the Kirk of Our Savior Student Incidentals Fund for students in need of items that are sometimes overlooked (prom tickets, the means to attend a field trip, application fees for summer programs, etc.).

Christmas Mission Projects!

In the recent past, the Kirk led a toiletries drive (needed items included shampoo/conditioner, deodorant, toothpaste, toothbrushes, pads/tampons, lotion, bar soap, and body wash) to support the Family Resource Center at John Glenn High School/Wayne Westland Community Schools

Additionally, in partnership with Learn Through Play Preschool, we sponsored a 12 year-old foster child with Michigan Foster Care Closet.  We placed wished-for items on the paper cutout "ornaments" on our Christmas tree in the lounge.
